To me, Globalization vs Americanization was the most memorable one in this cheter.  Just 100 years ago, Almost of people died their hometown where they were born, but, nowadays, a lot of people move to other place even cross border for living, working, studying, etc. Eventhough, They are living their hometown also can get and be influenced other culture`s produce. We can eat Chinese food, wear Prada, watch Holywood`s movie, and communicate on Facebook. We call that "Globalization". Many people confuse between globalization and Americanization, because, high persent of cultual produce was born in The U.S also was spreaded from there. That`s why people confuse.

 

Of course, some country which is influenced by other culture has negative perspective because they lost their traditional culture. But, We have to know that there is no exist a "culture" anymore, but only exist cultures. By development of technology, every culture influence and get influenced each other, even, American, too. So, we don`t need to think too bad about Globalization. That`s a process to develop and evolve own culture as American culture did, do, and will do.

Hi everyone. My name is Johana and I made a poster about my beautiful country Colombia. It this poster I show you pictures about some important thing in my country, our symbols like our map, our flower (orchid), our National Emblem and of course our friendly people. Also I show you pictures about some places in my country, beautiful landscapes, cities like Bogota, Medellin, Cartagena, Santa Marta, some parks and our metro cable and transmilenio. I put some pictures about important people, brands and shows in my country, like Shakira, Ugly Betty, Juan Valdez (our delicious coffee) our carnival in Barranquilla and all our culture about salsa, cumbia, music and costumes. Also I show you How the American culture influences me with some brands of technology, clothes, some shows , places and people.

devil in the white city

Devil in the White City talks about two actual stories that occur in Chicago in the late 1880s and the early 1890s . The story of the White City enhances the story of the Devil that found contetment within its walls. Daniel Burnham and John Root created the White City with the help of many some professional artichret from New York, Boston, St. Louis and Chicago. Throughout challenges and tragedy.Burnham moved the planning and building of the White City forward and never gave up. He focused on his own career and the fact that all of America was counting on him to earn the world's respect. The White City is the name given to the 1893 World's Exposition celebrating Columbus' discovery of America. Chicago was given the honor of hosting the elaborate affair. Many people were afraid about what would be no better than a county fair, because they believed that.

Today we interview a few people about how they think about Pop culture and High culture. Here is some of the record of our interview.

According to our interview we know that many people are intersting at pop culture and high culture, but most likely people are more love the pop culture, because they think pop culture is more easy to understand and to be enjoy.

DEVIL IN THE WHITE CITY:This book take two actual stories that occur in Chicago and early 1890. The stories talk about the craetion of the 1893 world fair murder of women by seral killer. This actaully combination of two different stories. It also talks about the madness, magic and murder that change American. This is a very interesting book to read about and know about the world fair. Thanks

Cultural Identity Wrap up

This chapter was very interesting to me , especially about the music. Basically, in America , there is lot of different people from other country and they are own culture but they get into American culture little by little. This is like Melting pod" to me. Even though, people they can keep their own culture but they have to get use to Americans as well because they live here. The other thing is every second generation in America, they don't really concern about own national culture. So therefore, i think people, who came from other country in America, they should keep their culture and teach the second generation as well.

Elsa's cultural identity wrap up

In this chapter I learn a lot of things. I learn that melting pot means people in this country will communicate with others that don’t look like them.Salad Bowl means a diverse group of people come to this country would keep their own culture.I prefer melting pot I think people should communicate with others that don’t look like them.In “They’ve Got to Be Carefully Taught,”I learned that it’s too early to teach 3 or 4 years old about diversity. I think they don’t understand it. I think people should communicate with people that don’t look like them and learn their culture and learn more things instead of separate them from their friends.I read “People like us” and I learned that people only fit in with the people that look like them. They would not open their eyes to see a big world but to stay in their little world.Something I still don’t understand from this chapter is why talking to other people don’t look like them is like killing them.Creating a poster about my cultural identity was interesting because I get to show my culture and let them know what kind of person I am.

Cultural Identity the most important thing. I learned how the music influence some people for example what kind the music and the lyrics proyect the message. Also what is the most popular singer at the moment, and the fashion too.

CULTURAL IDENTITY WRAP UP

cultural Identity: This most important thing I learnt about the unit of cultural identity. It was
about the factors that affect people self images such as one self apperance and cultural looks(attires). It affect people in such ways ,biologically this simply talk about the story" DEFINE AMERICAN " a reflextion to cultural identitiy. In the case the mother and her daughter are from the same cultural tribe, but the daugnhter cultural identitiy is quite different from her mother. The mother is used to the tradtional cultural attires,but the daughter is not, they might be realted by blood,but might have different traits among them.The daughter prefer dressing in a modern way not a cultural way.Finally this is trying to talk about parents trying to make their children have that same cultural identity which they do , but in not possible because of the popular and modern word we live today.

I chose those pictures because is my culture. For example we celebrated The Day of the Dead in November 2nd. We remembered ours dead family and friends. I chose one of the most popular singer his named is Vicente Fernandez, his most famous song is "Hermoso Carino". And the Mexican Flag represent my country.

This the map of Pakistan. The country i am from. It came into being in 1947. Pakistan have four provinces as you can see in picture,N.W.F.P, Sindh, Balchistan, and Punjab.They are not only different by name but also by culture As you can see the picture on the left show that how people from every part of the country wearing different kind of clothes and also have different languages.The picture on the right shows some great and Historic places in Pakistan.The first place known as Badshahi Masjid which was constructed by mughal emperors.The second picture is Meenar-e-Pakistan (the pillar of pakistan) one of the historic place in Pakistan.The third picture don't need any introduction it is the second highest mountain of world known as K2.The last but not least is a tomb of Jinnah (the founder of Pakistan ).I hope now you guys know little bit about Pakistan.

In this chapter i have learned some new things. The most important thing which i have never heard before is concept of "Melting Pot" and "Salad Bowl". Melting Pot means that how people from different cultures start following the same culture on the other hand "Salad bowl" means that how people live together and follow their own what they have learned from their own countries. The best part of this chapter was a Blog poster because I have learned about so many countries and now I know little bit about those countries.

Hello everybody! My Name is Suugii, i'm from Mongolia. On my poster I tried to contain about historic subject. Chingis Khan was very popular and famous warrior and king in the world. When i say where am I from Mongolia everybody thought it's part of China but Mongolia is not. We are Independent country located between two big country Russia and China.

In my country every body respect the great history and our King. Therefore, in everywhere in Mongolia adore his pictures and statue. More over, new generation obsessed with tattoo of his picture and on our money bill his picture represented as well...

Overall, I selected some particular identities which I had been influenced by both American culture and Chinese culture. I hoped you could enjoy the trip. As we know, China is an Asia country, and American is a Northern American country, therefore, there do exist a big culture difference between these two countries. Personally, I was sensitive with music and food. Actually, I thought American culture has strong impact on me. For instance, I realized after I came here, I was more interested in hip-hop. It is really attractive, no matter its songs or dancing, I can feel enthusiasm and passion inside. Once, Jay Zhou and Leehom were my favorite singers, but now, I would like the black eyed peas and Rihanna best. In addition, I like tattoo as well, it is an amazing art. Compared with each traditional food, “Jiao Zi” can be regarded as Chinese traditional food, and “Mashed potatoes” probably represents American food. Usually, I preferred Cheesecake Factory to have a meal. In addition, I also like super sports cars so much. Possessing a Pagani Zonda has become my dream, hopefully one day, it will come true.

I made this poster because i want everyone to know about African culture . the white man and lady in this picture means something, back then in the 60's Africans(Nigerians) wear more of traditional attire, until when the British came to colonize us. majority of Nigerian now dresses in such ways this is mainly talking about fashion style. And also I have a post of a carnival we do in Nigeria, we have 36 states in Nigeria, each state does a carnival or festival culture and this culture are different. Where i come from they do a carnival called yam festival. during this we have lot of gods staffs , masquerader and ritual it is scary and lot of incantations. that a culture that has been alive since our forefather where alive.
